An early thank you...

On behalf of the House | Teague Crew, I would like to give an early thank you to everyone that participated in our T-shirt fundraising efforts. In the beginning of this, I estimated that we would order between 30-40 shirts. With all of your help we have ordered 80 shirts! WAAAAY more than we thought we would accomplish!! This is amazing and I just want to make sure that we thank everybody multiple times. With everyone's continued efforts and support we will find a cure, so THANK YOU!

Also, I want to clarify that the walk on May 2nd is at LINCOLN PARK in Chicago, NOT Grant Park (as previously posted)

Purple Stride 2009!

Hello Everyone!

In addition to sending out mass e-mails and event notes on facebook, I am also posting all of this on here (in case anybody reads this! lol)

As part of our fundraising efforts for 2009, we are pushing to raise awareness by distributing t-shirts to those who donate $25 or more to our cause. In order to qualify for a free tshirt, all donations need to be received by April 1st. If writing a check, please write your size on the memo line. Checks should be written out to Jessi Bornack and be sent to 105 W Pratt Blvd, Roselle, IL 60172. For your convenience, payments can also be made by credit or debit cards through paypal to jb@jessibornack.com. All proceeds will go to The Alexian Pancreatic Cancer Fund in loving Memory of Cindy House & Marian Teague and will be distributed specifically towards early detection and genetic testing.

We also invite all of you to join us on May 2nd as we participate in the PurpleStride Walk at Lincoln Park in downtown Chicago. This is an awesome FREE event for a great cause and with these t-shirts our support will really stand out.

PRESIDENT OBAMA’S PROPOSED 2010 BUDGET IS
ENCOURAGING NEWS FOR THE PANCREATIC CANCER COMMUNITY:
A STATEMENT FROM THE PANCREATIC CANCER ACTION NETWORK

EL SEGUNDO, Calif.– (February 27 , 2009) –The following is a statement in response to President Obama’s 2010 proposed budget from Julie Fleshman, president and CEO of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, the only national organization creating hope in a comprehensive way through research, patient support, community outreach and advocacy for a cure.

“We applaud President Obama for holding his campaign promise of doubling cancer research during his administration and making cancer research a priority by including in the 2010 proposed budget $6 billion in cancer research funding through the National Institute of Health.

“This is a critical step in renewing the broad fight against cancer and is encouraging news for the pancreatic cancer community. We now need to ensure funding is dedicated to conquering the most complex issues facing the research community and make significant progress with the deadliest cancers, such as pancreatic, where very little improvement has been made in the past thirty years.

“Today, approximately 95 percent of patients diagnosed with pancreatic cancer die within five years. The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network remains hopeful that a significant increase in funding will ultimately lead to early detection tools and effective treatment options currently lacking for pancreatic cancer patients and increase survival of the fourth leading cause of cancer death in the United States.”

PurpleStride 2009 Update!

Hey everyone!

Just wanted to pass this on in case you don't already receive emails from the PanCan organization!

Looks like we will be doing another "picnic" this year at the house with the ever "famous" split-the-pot raffle!

We had a GREAT effort last year, raising I believe just under $2,000. Let's make it to $4,000 this year!!! Get your friends and family involved!! It is a great event for an awesome cause! Hope to see you guys in May!

Chicago Purple Stride 2009

Hello All!

It's been a long time since we have posted anything on here. We had a GREAT fundraising effort last year, raising about $2,00o! 

I wanted to update this blog to let everyone know about this year's PanCan Walk! The date is Saturday, May 2, 2009 in Grant Park in downtown Chicago. Same place as last year. We are all crossing our fingers for a little better weather than last year! =)

I am not sure who is signed up to receive emails when this blog is updated, so please spread the word! Also, send me email addresses of anyone who would like to be added to the list for updates!

Hope every one is starting off to a great 2009 and I look forward to seeing everyone in May (if not sooner!)
